Volunteers play a key role in the mission of NeighborWorks® Greater Manchester, having great impact on the quality and quantity of affordable housing opportunities that are available in our region. Volunteers are utilized in all aspects of the organization, and are vital to our continued ability to bring about affordable housing in this area.
Individuals who work in professions related to home ownership, such as real estate appraisal, home inspection, banking, law, and mortgage processing, are frequent presenters at our home ownership and financial fitness education programs. These and other professionals provide cutting edge insight into the home ownership process. Other members of the community volunteer their time in community service activities, which help maintain or improve our multi-family developments or the neighborhood in general. These activities have included clean up of neighborhood parks, flower planting at residences, tutoring high school students, and assisting with youth craft activities.
Members of the community also serve on one of seven volunteer committees of the Board of Directors of NeighborWorks® Greater Manchester. These individuals, who may have expertise in a particular profession or have a general interest as a community resident, meet on an on-going basis and make recommendations to the full Board of Directors. Service as a committee member can lead to membership on the Board of Directors, which is the 15-person governing group of the organization.
NeigbhorWorks® Greater Manchester is also honored to have a Board of Trustees which is currently a eight-member group of community representatives. Trustees provide additional guidance to the organization, particularly as it relates to the community, and serve as "ambassadors" for NeighborWorks® Greater Manchester.
