  • Historic Preservation Award from the Manchester Historic Association in 2003, 2002, 2001 and 1995 for redevelopment of 282-290 Auburn Street, Elm Street brownstones, 95 Cedar Street, and 241 Cedar Street (respectively)

Achievements

  • 2008 Champion in Action for Affordable Housing by Citizens Bank and WMUR-TV
  • In predevelopment, the Silver Mill Apartments Project, a 57-unit rental project
  • Developed 209 family rental apartments in Manchester
  • Developed the first LIHTC project sponsored by a NH nonprofit
  • Developed and sold to first-time homebuyers Renaissance Homes, 8 attached fee simple townhouses and the first new construction in the neighborhood in 20 years
  • Developed and sold to first-time homebuyers REBUILD Phase I and Phase II, six renovated buildings
  • Facilitated a neighborhood initiative to save the block (between Union and Pine, Merrimack and Laurel Streets) from development of a new police station
  • Started a neighborhood cleanup that eventually became Adopt-a-Block
  • Led a neighborhood campaign that closed down three local bars
  • Helped create the Pine Street Friendship Garden
  • Created the Cedar Street Family Park
  • Brought community policing to the neighborhood
  • Organized and supported the community process that resulted in Manchester being designated an Enterprise Community by HUD
  • Won the first “Youthbuild” grant in NH
     
  • Operates “NeighborWorks® HomeOwnership Center” in downtown retail location as part of a national program
  • Offers over 75 educational programs each year, including orientations, home ownership seminars, home buyer financial literacy clubs, landlord trainings, post purchase group counseling workshops, and predatory lending awareness workshops
  • Provided homeownership counseling to 3,500 families
  • Offered the first New Hampshire homeownership seminars in Vietnamese and Spanish
  • Is the lead non-profit organization for the state-wide Financial Fitness Program
  • Provided financial fitness training to 469 individuals since 2001
  • Enrolled 263 individuals in an Individual Development Account (IDA) savings programs
  • Helped 70 IDA participants purchase homes
  • Began offering home mortgages and down payment/closing cost assistance loans statewide in 2000
  • Is the only state-wide non-profit organization approved to originate New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority and Neighborhood Housing Services of America mortgages, and is a VA Direct Lender
  • Provides leverage funds for USDA Rural Development first and second mortgages
  • Education and counseling programs have created over 576 home owners statewide
  • Originated over 380 home purchases in Manchester
  • Originated 425 home purchase mortgages statewide
  • Originated 358 second mortgages for closing cost, down payment assistance, and foreclosure prevention in Manchester
  • Loaned or granted over $27 million for home purchase and rehabilitation
  • Is an approved Local HUD Housing Counseling Agency
  • Chosen by NeighborWorks® America as one of 4 pilot sites for the Anti-Predatory Lending Training Initiative
  • Established a Workforce Housing Initiative in partnership with the City of Manchester, Freddie Mac, and Merrimack Mortgage
          Recapitalized the Participation Loan Pool Program for down payment, closing cost assistance with commitments from 7 local lenders for a total of                   $6,500,000
